VOLUNTEER
Volunteering is unpaid work that is for the benefit of the community.
Who?
Volunteers come in all shapes, sizes and ages. They come from all sorts of backgrounds, from people with no qualifications to people with a range of experiences and those with specialised skills to offer. They may be volunteering any time between an hour a month in their spare time outside work up to several hours a day.
Why?
People volunteer for all sorts of reasons. Some do it to meet new people and to spend time out of the house making friends. Others do it to learn new skills, increase their confidence, take up training opportunities, add to their CV and improve their chances of future work.
If you have empty hours, are bored, or fancy a challange then volunteering could open up new interests and help you live a fuller, more satisfying life. Our communities would be much worse places to live if we didn’t volunteer, 8o% of people in Wales do some sort of volunteering and make a huge contribution to the quality of life for themselves and others.
What?
From helping at local play sessions to being a trustee of a charity; making tea at a senior citizens lunch to befriending a young person; helping run the local carnival to picking up litter.
From building benches in the local park to delivering newsletters; stuffing envelopes to being part of a local committee.
How?
Finding the right thing for you that fulfils your personal goals can be difficult. But there are people who can help. Contact the Clase Caemawr Partnership Office on 01792 700780 if you live in the area or contact your local CVS on www.cvs.or.uk |
